Founded in 2016 and officially registered under registration number PTCU/2016/001, Zanzibar Opportunity Institute (ZOI) is a trusted and fast-growing educational center based in Zanzibar. Our mission is simple but powerful: to provide accessible, practical, and life-changing education for all — from youth and adults to even children, at different times and in different class setups.
🌱 Our Humble Beginnings
ZOI was established by Mr. Kassim Suleiman Ushanga, a visionary educationist and community advocate who believed in empowering people through skills and opportunity. We began with just six students, operating from a small building in Raha Leo, in the heart of Zanzibar Town (Mjini Unguja). Despite limited resources, our passion and commitment to uplift the community fueled rapid growth. Over time, word spread about our practical courses, passionate teachers, and focus on student success.

Since 2016, we have trained and empowered thousands of youth, many of whom have gone on to start their own businesses, gain employment, or contribute meaningfully to their communities. ZOI is not just a training center — it's a life-changing platform that builds confidence, professionalism, and self-reliance. We are especially proud of our role in promoting self-employment, bridging the skills gap, and supporting community development in Zanzibar.
