Part 1: For Non-Literate Learners (Locals who cannot read or write)

This course is designed for adults and youth who have not had the opportunity to learn how to read and write in Kiswahili. It aims to empower learners with basic literacy skills.

Course Objectives:

  • Learn the Kiswahili alphabet and pronunciation (A-Z)

  • Read syllables, common words, and simple sentences

  • Write basic information: names, addresses, and short sentences

  • Build confidence in everyday communication

  • Prepare learners for advanced Swahili use in real-life situations

Part 2: Swahili as a Communication Language (For Foreigners)

This is a beginner-friendly course aimed at non-Swahili speakers who live, work, or travel in Tanzania and wish to use Kiswahili in everyday communication, especially in the tourism, hospitality, business, and development sectors.

Course Objectives:

  • Understand and pronounce the Swahili alphabet and sounds

  • Learn daily conversational Swahili: greetings, directions, shopping, and cultural expressions

  • Build vocabulary for tourism, travel, and workplace settings

  • Practice real-life dialogues through role-plays and immersion

  • Enhance cross-cultural communication in Zanzibar and beyond
